Model for teaching patients about the development of caries.

Each tooth represents a stage of caries development. On one side of the model are the teeth as the patient will see them in their mouth, and on the other side of the model is a cross-section that clarifies what happens inside the tooth. The model clearly illustrates how caries develops and can reach the pulp resulting in apical lesions, secondary caries and root caries. The model can be used in conjunction with the patient's radiographs and intraoral images for a thorough explanation of the situation and treatment options.
