Intraoral X-ray images with square tube

Call to order

Course with theory and practical methods for aiming correctly the first time

The Dental Institute has received calls from several clinics tearing their hair out in frustration over their new X-ray machines with rectangular tubes. Everyone wants to maintain good radiation hygiene and limit unnecessary radiation, but the opposite is true when you can't aim correctly and have to retake the images several times.

You can book us to come to your own clinic, precisely because you need to learn the practicalities in your familiar surroundings. It's a very practical hands-on course with great tips and tricks to help you limit unnecessary radiation exposure to patients.

Target audience:

This course is for dental assistants, dental hygienists and anyone who performs intraoral X-rays in the clinic.

Content and purpose:

It is now required that the tube of intraoral X-ray units must have the same shape as an image receptor (rectangular) and with a reduced radiation field of max. 4 x 5 cm.

The student will receive theoretical and practical guidance on how to work with X-rays while taking optimal radiation hygiene into account.

We provide an X-ray phantom for the exercises so that you can take X-ray images and evaluate them together.

On January 1, 2023, the use of circular tubes was no longer allowed.

The trainee will be updated on how to:

  • Acquire intraoral radiographs using parallel and angle bisecting techniques.
  • Imaging in the context of trauma.
  • Quality assure and evaluate own recordings

The student will receive theoretical and practical guidance in working with X-ray images while taking optimal radiation hygiene into account. We provide an X-ray phantom for the exercises so that you can take X-ray images and evaluate them together.
