People are living longer and have higher expectations for health and quality of life than they did in previous generations, and demographic changes have occurred over the past few decades, leaving more older people than younger.

These shifts have placed new demands on implant dentists and practitioners, who now see older patients routinely in practice. Due to their age, these patients often have certain physical or mental limitations and therefore require special dental care, especially patients with various diseases. This volume addresses the situation and needs of the elderly patient, from systemic changes and physical and mental limitations to quality of life considerations. Twelve clinical cases demonstrate solutions for different clinical situations, including treatment of an Alzheimer's patient, rehabilitation of a patient with osteoarthritis, treatment sequencing for full-arch removable dentures, flapless guided surgery for bar-supported overdentures, and minimally invasive treatment of a patient in his 90s with severe peri-implantitis, among others.
