South Korea is at the forefront of aesthetic dentistry and the manufacture of dental materials. The purpose of Dentalinstituttet’s dental study trip is to exchange knowledge and experience internationally – with dental universities, the dental industry, highly regarded South Korean dental clinics and, not least, with one another throughout the journey.

This will be a truly special trip, with Seoul, Daegu, Gyeongju and Busan as highlights along the way. Alongside the professional programme, the days will be filled with Korean food culture, K-pop, K-beauty, contemporary youth culture, cherry blossoms and city lights – combined with temples, traditions, hanok houses, historic kingdoms and an encounter with the border to North Korea.

Professional programme

Seoul
The dental universities in Seoul require a list containing the names and professional backgrounds of the participants before approving a visit from our group. A university visit can therefore only be confirmed once the group is complete. Regardless, Dentalinstituttet is working to arrange lectures by professors from the dental universities – whether these take place at a university or in a conference room. We aim to gain an update on the universities’ current research and their perspectives on the future of dentistry.

At implant manufacturer MegaGen’s training centre, MINEC Knight and member of MegaGen’s international professional network, dentist Kasper Haustrup Hermansen, will share his clinical experience with the MegaGen system and implant dentistry in general. MegaGen is generously supporting our professional programme by providing facilities and teaching, and Hjørdis Laksafoss, Dedicated Dental Specialist for MegaGen, will participate in the trip.

Daegu
MegaGen has invited us to visit its headquarters, where we will have the opportunity to see its production facilities. We will receive instruction in the company’s implant systems and be presented with clinical cases involving both single implants and full-arch implant treatment.

MegaGen is also associated with a group of dental clinics in several locations across South Korea. Due to their size, these can best be described as dental hospitals. We will visit MIR Dental Hospital in Daegu and experience daily clinical practice in a highly advanced technological setting.

Busan
The professional programme in Busan is planned to include lectures by leading South Korean clinicians. The final arrangements have not yet been confirmed, but the aim is to cover broader topics relevant to general dental practice.

Our Cultural Guides

Malene Jensen and Jaewoon Im will accompany us throughout the entire study trip as our cultural guides. They will help us gain a deeper understanding of this fascinating country.

Malene and Jaewoon are newlyweds and live in Denmark. Malene is a journalist at the Danish newspaper Weekendavisen and an expert on South Korea. She has lived in East Asia for most of her adult life and has an in-depth understanding of the region’s societies and cultures. She speaks fluent Japanese and conversational Korean. Jaewoon was born and raised in Seoul and has, among other things, assisted Danish journalists reporting from South Korea. For example, he supported journalists from the Danish Broadcasting Corporation, DR, during their journey through South Korea for the television programme Nul Stjerner.

We reserve the right to change venues and activities included in the programme if necessary due to circumstances beyond our control or in order to optimise the overall experience. Upon registration, a non-refundable deposit of 25% of the total price of the trip is payable. Registration is binding for both the participant and Dentalinstituttet once the deposit has been paid. The remaining balance is due in January 2027. As Dentalinstituttet becomes liable for all costs following final registration, no refund can be provided if a participant subsequently cancels. It is therefore important to have personal cancellation insurance. If a participant is unable to join the trip, it may be possible to arrange the transfer of the booking to another person, subject to a fee determined by the technical tour operator. Any cancellation must be submitted in writing to info@dentalinstituttet.dk.

If acts of war, natural disasters, life-threatening infectious diseases or comparable events occur within 14 days before the start of the trip, the trip may be cancelled free of charge. However, this is conditional upon the Danish authorities – such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the health authorities or another public authority – specifically advising against travel to the area concerned, and the events having arisen after the trip was booked.

Entry requirements
Danish citizens may travel to South Korea without a visa for stays of up to 90 days. It has not yet been confirmed whether an electronic travel authorisation (K-ETA) will be required for travel in 2027. Participants will receive further information once the applicable rules have been published.

Insurance:
